I hope everyone is having a great day! Steven has shared great experiences and has been a valuable member of our organization! He is an Administrative Board Member and current Education Director at Homeless HEAL.
1. What made you join Homeless HEAL?
I joined Homeless HEAL because I realized that my education was an asset I could use to give back to those in need. I was particularly driven to give back to those experiencing homelessness because I grew up in a neighborhood with many homeless people. I was well-exposed to the poor health outcomes of those living on the street.
2. What do you want people to know about Homeless HEAL?
I want people to know that Homeless HEAL is well-informed of the diversity that finds itself within the homeless community. We tailor all of our presentations to be inclusive of all kinds of people experiencing homelessness.
3. What is a fun fact about yourself?
I’m a linguaphile; I love languages! I currently speak English (obviously), Spanish, and Portuguese. I want to continue learning new languages throughout my life. There’s no better feeling than surprising someone by speaking to them in their native language.
4. What are your favorite hobbies?
I love anything cardio, from running, swimming, or cycling. I also enjoy playing the guitar though I’m not good at it, but practice makes perfect.
